01 / OUR STORY

A deeper
connection to
what matters.

There is a remarkable story behind every ordinary moment. It takes a different way of seeing to bring it forward.

THE NAME

A legacy of
looking closer.

In 1904, photographer Edward Steichen created The Pond—Moonrise—a quiet landscape transformed through his eye for light, color and craft.

Steichen is part of our founder's family history. Moonrise House draws its name from that personal connection and the enduring belief behind the image: the extraordinary doesn't need a grand beginning. It needs someone who knows how to see it.

Our connection is personal inspiration, not an affiliation with the Steichen estate. Explore the photograph at MoMA ↗

THE FOUNDER

Experience.
Not ego.

I'm Josh Steichen—a filmmaker, editor, photographer, and motion-graphics artist. My career has moved between productions, studios, broadcasts and faraway locations, but the goal has remained simple: create work that feels true, beautifully made and worth remembering.

I started making films young, moved to Colorado at 17 to pursue the craft, and built my experience over years of professional production. Moonrise House is the independent studio where that experience becomes direct collaboration.

"The moment passes.
What we make of it remains."
